- Mulika Hongo is here!
What’s your role as a citizen towards eliminating corruption in Kenya? Promoting and facilitating citizen participation in reducing crime.
By SMS, you can now report any government official asking/demanding for a bribe to perform their duties and any government official receiving a bribe in order to look the other way when an offence is committed.
Your sms will be received by security agencies instantly namely; The Regional Coordinator, The Regional Commissioner of Police, Regional NIS officer, the county and sub county security committees which comprise of; The County Commissioner, The County AP Commander, The County Police Commander, The County NIS officer and The County Criminal Investigation Officer. Your text will also be received by the Regional Coordinator EACC.
In Nakuru for example one text will be received by over 60 security chiefs in the county and this is on their personal cellphones. This will bring accountability and transparency among the security agencies.
Once a text is received, it can no longer be swept under the carpet as reports generated from the platform will be followed up by the County Security Team and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). This will ensure that no issue is unattended.
Your identity is concealed when the text is send. The receivers will get a text branded “MULIKA”. For safety and confidentiality, the platform is hosted by the Regional Coordinator (RVR).
To send a text, start with the name of the county you are reporting on plus hongo (e.g. Nakuru hongo) then continue with the text. Send it to 22068. It will cost only 1/=.
Although this initiative has kicked off in six counties; Nakuru, Nandi, Trans nzoia, Baringo, Kiambu, and Kakamega, texts received from other counties nevertheless will be attended to through the Regional Coordinators and the EACC. We will continue to expand to connect all security teams for better efficiency and speed.
